It's 1:11 (now mind you our flight was at 12:15, then 12:57 then 12:43) After a delay, while the flight attendant counted the 80 people on the plane countless times looking for an extra person not listed (Yes, we had one too many!) while the sweat poured from her head, we were finally on our way. Of course, we were seated directly in front of a screaming 12 month old and directly behind the exit. We would be saved first if plunged to the ground? The captain just announced the we would be taking a short cut, yikes!, and arriving at our destination 10 minutes early, just in time to sprint to our next plane at a gate undetermined. Sunny skies and white puffy clouds are below us. Yesterday it was 100 degrees in Detroit. Today we won’t be angling out of the airport but staying in the ac while we hunt for the elusive gate. Let’s just hope my carry-on, which is under the plane at this moment, will fit in the overhead compartment. I must have my things!
2:34 PM- The ac on the plane has been shut off and sweat is starting to run down my brow. We are speeding towards the Detroit Airport like a bat out of hell! Who knew planes could speed or take shorts cuts? Not me. Hopefully, the other planes in the area have heard of our alternate route. Ta, ta…. Till we blog again.
4:50 pm and we are now.........in the Best Western Gateway hotel in Detroit (which is actually in Romulus -- who knew?). That's right...after getting off the plane at 3:15 we ran (or kind of ran) all the way across airport to only miss our flight -- even though they had just closed the door. Frustrating, but here we are in "beautiful" Michigan another day. We are now on a flight for Tokyo (yup -- that's right) tomorrow at 3:25. Hong Kong will have to wait for return flight.
Where's the bar??? I think we need a drink. Later.

I'm sorry to hear that you got trapped in MI for the night. Sounds like you are keeping a great attitude about the delay (Good For You). I'm pretty sure that would have made me grumpy. Looking forward to travelling with you the next couple of weeks. Thanks for taking us along.
ReplyDeleteTraveling is certainly filled with unexpected pleasures and experiences that shape our lives. We would not every experience them staying here. I am so happy that you get to travel over there and that you get to blog about it! Have a great time. I will keep up with you on my dashboard.
